4th. Hovamber, 1918.

with referbies to your letter of 18th. Eeptember,

(Confidential) on the subject of the Biomens Chisa Electrical

Engimering Company, Ltd., I have the honour to enolose herewith

copy of a letter which has been addressed to my by lasera.

L. J. Healing & Co., Ltd., from which you will see that they haTÜ received a telegras from their London Offio» saying that the ordèr

is now "bunkered",

They are not aware what has happened, but presume that the Authorities have changed their minds, and they ask me therefore

if I can give them any letter which they could send forward

immediately to their London Office.

I have the honour to smolose copy of the reply which

I have sent to them, and I shall be glad to know if there is

anything further which can be done in the matter.

From the point of view of British trade, it would,

course, be better that the order should be placed with Bruce

Peebles than with a firm in Japan, but naturally if there is

anything wrong with Siemens in Hongkong, it seems to me that neither Bruce Peebles nor Healings will want to touch it, and sooordingly I shall be very glad if you will let me havO particulars of anything which my have occurred, as soon as

possible.

Claud Severn Esq.,

Colomial Secretary,

Hongkong.

I have do....
